In honor of Thanksgiving, this week's Iron Craft Challenge was to make something for the table i.e. napkin rings, runners, center pieces etc. I am not hosting Thanksgiving at my house, so I decided to make something for my Christmas table instead. Last year my table was very colorful and whimsical. This year I am planning a more sophisticated setting using gold and white. After digging through my craft stash I found what I needed to make votives for my Christmas table: plain glass votives, gold glitter, painters tape, and Elmer's spray glue.
I taped off the bottom part of the votive, leaving a band of exposed glass around the top. Next, I inserted a piece of white paper into the votive (to keep glue from getting inside the votive), then I sprayed the exposed glass with glue. I shook glitter over the glass, let it dry and removed the tape. They are sparkly and sophisticated, and I may have to cook a fancy dinner between now and Christmas as an excuse to use them.

I totally want to make some of those now too.
Ikea is a great resource for cheap plain votives.
